At last Meteora has been submitted!!! I worked on this one on and off for the last 2 weeks, and i'm really happy with the result. It is my most detailed work so far. The planet was created entirely but in the end i used only half of it because i couldn't balance the image. If this is half the planet imagine i had a 2000*3000px document, and that gave me some trouble. So i made my first impact piece, the first real one. That can be easily noticed since the explosion and the effect on the planet still lack detail. But i'm really glad how the starfield turned out. I put a lot of time in creating it, and it's a good result.
This is also my submission for the new * Spaceartists pack.So keep an eye out out for that one too
Anyway, i just hope you'll enjoy seeing this. Take care!
me again^^
hm, I forgot a little point. the planets in the upper half of the image are too dark, the impact creates such a bright and intense light that they should be enlightened by it a little too...which causes some dual lighting I guess, from nebulae and impact.
this image is absolutely stunning. you have an immensly detailed planet, and a sharp starfield. I like those reddish huge dusts/nebulaes, I still have not found out how to create these.
also, the composition in this image is nice. it's not bad that you used only half the planet, this balances the piece out much better. the impact is fantastic, you managed to display the speed of the meteor, the violence of the impact. and the asteroids at the bottom are a nice touch, they look pretty good and realistic too
I have some crits though... I think you should leave away thingys round the impact which look like lightnings...those strokes. rather try to create kind of a ...hm, don't know the english word, but you know these "waves" caused by the pressure of the impact, which go around an impact.
also, add some shadows and dark spots in the huge flame and the explosition, this will give more depth to it, and more variety for the eye to look at.
but in any case, this remains a great piece, you did an excellent job

Was this a flaming meteor before it entered the atmosphere of the planet because if I remember rightly meteors only burn when they pass through the atmosphere and create friction.
Apart from that the detailing on the planet is amazing, I think you could do with some stars which are closer and doing the rens lender(lol) thing space dust and debris is top notch

said. Well done,
Just a beautiful image. The whole thing is just so aline with color, but this has to be the best starscape I have ever seen!
