Mountain Monastery by aksu Mountain Monastery by aksu
This is another take on usig e-on Vue 7. The image is 90% original render, because with some minor color correction it looked great. The monastery was painted using reference.

Enjoy!

wow, excellent! You know I love such mountain monastery stuff as you can see here www.flickr.com/photos/brickart… very inspiring, though my traditional goal is different to a CGI one.

Pure quality as always. :D I also like the noise layer here, really adds more photographic feel for it.

two words : noise :)
No, really it is sharpened but it also has a noise layer that would make much more sense in animation.

I love the clouds in the front there, I had a feeling most of it was Vue, does that include the clouds? unless they are postworked, since I rarely see such good-looking clouds this close in Vue renders 8-)

Oh, sorry, forgot about the cloud. The FG one is also a photo.

But I'll have to disagree about vue and clouds. I got great result working on some airplane shots for a movie. I just didn't use them for this quick study.

Oh, OK then - yeah, Vue'c clouds took a steep jump in quality ever since 7 came out, and =nukeation has some pretty successful experiemnts with them too 8-) but yeah, sometimes it's better just to use photographic ones =p

I did, the last part said painted and I got confused. It said when I read it (this is a reply from my account) that you used a program do do it and the monastery is painted.

Yes, you got it right. The whole environment is rendered from a 3d program called Vue , and the monastery ( the building itself) is painted using reference.

Take care ;)
